Who are we and what's our nursing background?
We are two wellness gurus with a passion to share our knowledge and help support local community health. We work hard to make our personal and family lives better all the time; if we can help just 1 person, that makes our hearts happy! And that we done. We have numerous heartwarming stories of customers feeling better and making dramatic health lifestyles changes. We will always be transparent with you; if we don't know or can't answer -- we are never too full of ourselves. We will help direct you where you need to go to get the answers or find support.

Alexa's nursing background includes the following: pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant, general pediatrics, critical care pediatrics, surgery and post-op care, and veteran care management.

Karrli's nursing background includes the following: IV infusion for rheumatology, chemotherapy, gastroenterology, supportive care and other rare diseases including MS, and oncology nursing with a specialty focus in lung, brain, prostate and bladder cancer.

We offer a wide variety of cannabis and health wellness products, with a focus on high quality and clean ingredients. We know cost matters too, so we do our best to find the most affordable options without compromising quality. What’s in the name?
Biotanica first opened in 2018 as a plant based wellness store with CBD products to offer a more natural way of supporting health. We started with the word “botanica,” which by basic definition, means “plant store.” Botanica felt fitting knowing we were going to be offering a plant that has already been used to support human health for thousands of years.
But we knew we wanted to identify as more than just a plant store. We wanted to help people learn about a wider value of wellness and to highlight the human piece in this.
So we thought of the word “biology,” which by basic definition, is about the knowledge of “living organisms and their vital processes; it looks at how these organisms form, develop and interact with each other and their environment.”
We blended the two words and ideas together and opened our first store in Otsego, MN in 2018 to offer high quality cannabis products and a trusted space to learn and grow. This became, Biotanica. In 2019, we opened our second location in Brainerd, MN. We have since evolved to include a wide variety of cannabis products, alongside other wellness products.

We pride ourselves in assuring that all our products have been personally tested or researched to know they are effective and worth sharing with our customers.
